After launching a vicious mental attack against Carlos the Mathematician, the Icks become dumbfounded by the STEM Heroes ability to overcome and defeat them during the Problem Solving battle.

The STEM Heroes activated the Vortex in order to reach students all over the world to tutor them on key Mathematical problems in preparation for an impromptu battle with the horrific Robotic Icks. The STEM Heroes embark on their first journey to defeat the Icks, who has begun the process of infiltrating the minds of human kind on planet earth. A signal alerted the STEM recruiting headquarters of an issue and they contacted the self driven spaceshuttel to gather the four STEM Heroes to duty. After finding the STEM Heroes, it was discovered that the children were watching dancing kittens because there was no homework to do. The first mission is to get the students engaged in the STEM subjects by solving basic mathematical problems first. They had to go Back to the Basics.
